I received a gentle reminder via e-mail that I have not shared my Thanksgiving table yet this year. I must admit, I didn't develop a design concept until I was in the fruit aisle of the grocery store this morning. I was so inspired by the beautiful red pears they had and decided to incorporate them for a pop of color.
I pinned a place card to each pear and placed one at each setting on top of our traditional "thankful for"cards. This year however, I revised with "grateful for."
{Grateful for card}
I added two miniature floral arrangements in votives on each side of the footed pedestal. I want the cuisine to be the focus on the table for aesthetics and convenience. An over-designed table results in little space for guests to eat, which is after all why we have gathered.
The cake plateau is a functional centerpiece...excellent for serving appetizers {sweet potato tartlets}.
The flax linen table runner {beneath the petite arrangement} has been one of my favorite finds at Pottery Barn. Normally $59, I found it for just $13 last year and have used it several times.
No matter what the occasion, the chalkboard message changes. I am particularly fond of this quote.
I challenged myself to spend $10 or less on decor this year. I did it! $8 for flowers, $2 for pears, I used papers, pins, serving items, and linens I already owned, proving hosting a holiday doesn't have to be expensive.

I am very impressed with what you did with $10 amazing!! Simple and tasteful, I really like it. I have the same runner, did you get it from Tarjay?? I had a cream letter "P" monogrammed on the end, it took it up a notch for $6 more. Have a lovely Thanksgiving day and thank you for stopping by my blog post so glad to see you there!! Kathysue
Simply lovely! The red pears were perfect...the rich red added just the right amount of color! I'd like to invite you to my party today to share your tablescape! http://theshadyporch.blogspot.com
