Refinishing a Desk

They say sometimes the best things in life are free.  I found that to be true with this desk!  Dismantled at the curb just a block away from my home, I spotted this solid wood desk, identical to what I had been searching for on Craigslist!  Fortunately for me, my brother in law was willing to take a few minutes out of his first anniversary to come "rescue" it for me!

The color gray is beautiful, however, it doesn't fit my dream of an all white office and it competes with the horrible blue carpet I am left to live with for a while.  What to do?  Paint it!

Using Rustoleum oil based paint {in gloss white}, a brush and a sponge roller, the desk has now been transformed.  Hopefully once I install drapes, the blue carpet will fade!

I found these knobs for $2.50 each at Hobby Lobby.

To give this desk a fresh start, we even painted the inside of the drawers.

My Grandmother's Ball jars hold my everyday pens and tools.

Investment:
$28 Rustoleum Oil Based Paint
$15 Glass Knobs
$125 Hudson Parsons Upholstered Chair from Restoration Hardware on clearance!

I plan to repurpose the rug from Adalyn's nursery in the office, add a sideboard {that I will hopefully find at a garage sale this week} and complete the room with drapes!
Pin It Now!

Your desk looks awesome and even better because it was free. The white is so classy and beautiful. Did you sand it down before you painted? Visiting over from the Weekend Wrap up party, going to look around your blog.

Have a great weekend,
Andrea
