Tips for Creating a Gallery Wall

Since we purchased our home, we have been remodeling room by room.  Honestly, the main level hasn't been decorated.  It's time to feel a bit more at home.  The best way to do that is add personal photos.  To me, there's no better space than the entryway, our current project!

When we moved in, the stairs were covered in dark brown carpet.  Chris removed it, along with hundreds of staples, sanded them and we had them stained to match our custom hardwoods. I can't wait to share more on this {actually, can't wait to finish them}.  The final step, sanding and painting the risers, has yet to be completed.

A bit of sad news in my world, my versatile camera lens broke on vacation.  It really limited me on capturing the stairwell, but I attempted to make due and photograph at various angles.  I can't wait to get my lens back from Canon!

I love my family and hope it reflects in our home.  Adalyn enjoyed stopping to check out each photo on her way down the stairs to breakfast this morning.

I'm really happy with how the wall turned out and can't wait to add more memories to the wall in the future!

Purchasing the number of frames to make a gallery wall work, can be expensive.  My solution?  Transforming these modern frames found at Hobby Lobby {$55 half off} to those I originally wanted to purchase {$150}.  Rethink items - don't always accept them as is.

I removed the two thinner mats and put the spacer behind the larger mat.  Remove the glass and mats and spray the frame, allowing it to dangle from a finger so that you can coat the entire frame at once.  Remember to keep the paint 6" away.  I covered all 7 in just 10 minutes!  Another inexpensive way to achieve a professional look for this project is to have your photos {even if taken by yourself} printed professionally.  I recommend Mpix or EPG!  Pricing is similar to drugstores and it's who the photographers use!

Do you have a gallery wall in your home?  If so, did you include family photos, artwork or even objects?

I think this is going to help. But do you know any way to get pictures onto the wall without nailing them in? Im thinking out using those black paper frames to hold the pictures so theyre not petruding out of the wall

Theresa, without a doubt, 3M Command Strips. They offer several types. I use them To hang heavy items at events all the time. They are so easy to remove too! You can purchase them from the hardware store or Target!
